What is EMDRAA Accreditation?

After completing EMDRAA accredited basic training and achieving Full Membership with EMDRAA, accreditation is the next step in professional growth. It recognises therapists and clinicans who have advanced their EMDR skills, demonstrating proficiency, ethical practice, and commitment to excellence in EMDR therapy.

Accredited Practitioner

Practitioner Accreditation confirms that you have completed EMDRAA accredited EMDR basic training, and consultation with an EMDRAA Accredited Consultant. It recognises your clinical experience and the ability to deliver EMDR therapy safely and effectively.
  • Full EMDRAA membership must be held throughout accreditation
  • At least 1 year of EMDR clinical experience post EMDRAA accredited training
  • Minimum 50 EMDR sessions with at least 25 clients (20 achieving Phases 1-8 of the Standard Protocol)
  • 10 hours consultation with an EMDRAA Accredited Consultant
  • Application via member login; fee $150 + GST
  • Accreditation valid for 5 years

Accredited Consultant

Consultants demonstrate advanced clinical skill, leadership, and a strong commitment to professional development.
  • Full EMDRAA membership must be held throughout accreditation
  • Minimum 2 years of EMDR practice after Practitioner accreditation
  • 300 EMDR sessions with at least 75 clients (60 achieving Phases 1–8)
  • At least 30 hours of EMDR professional development
  • Evidence of clinical EMDR work (video or live)
  • 20 hours additional consultation post-Practitioner
  • Application via member login; fee $200 + GST
  • Accreditation valid for 5 years

Accredited Trainer

Trainers are experienced Consultants who teach and mentor others, demonstrating mastery of EMDR principles, research, and ethics.
  • Full EMDRAA membership must be held throughout accreditation
  • Minimum 3 years as an Accredited Consultant
  • Meets EMDRAA and EMDRIA training standards
  • Proven teaching and supervision experience
  • Application via member login; fee on request
  • Accreditation valid for 5 years

Frequently Asked Questions

Levels include Accredited Practitioner, Accredited Consultant, and Accredited Trainer. Each level requires specific training, clinical hours, consultation, and CPD. Accreditation demonstrates your commitment to high standards of practice.

Applications are submitted online via the member login on the EMDRAA website, along with supporting documents and evidence that you have completed the required consultation to meet the application criteria.

Yes. Accreditation is only available to current EMDRAA full members. Membership connects you with resources, professional development, and the EMDR community.

Most applications are reviewed within 6 weeks, depending on completeness of the application. We will let you know if your application requires anything further before being reviewed by the Accreditation & Standards Committee.

Yes. Accreditation is valid for five years from the date it is approved. Maintaining annual EMDRAA full membership is a requirement of maintaining your accreditation status.
